Plum Point Middle School Approvals
$34,492 was awarded to Omnia Partners for a partial roof repair at Plum Point Middle School. Director of Planning and Construction Shuchita Warner said that “there are a lot of issues” at Plum Point Middle that they’re trying to resolve, and this section of the roof has continuous leaks they hope to have fixed by the beginning of the school year. She added that her group has made capital improvement project (CIP) funding requests but is turning their attention to other types of funding “in hopes we can get those other issues addressed.”
$45,424 to renew the contract with Chesapeake College Plan of Prince Frederick. The district has a more than 10-year relationship with the organization. Students will have access to key services such as an assigned weekly advisor for seniors, access to drop-in and appointment-only meetings, and programs on college choice and curriculum, financial aid advising and scholarship search advising. The program will be paid for out of the Student Services budget.
$76,800 for eight staff members to attend the Gallup Global Strengths Coach Training and Travel training in Washington, D.C., for five days. Gallup training aims to teach staff members how to be leaders in their schools and identify the potential of others around them. The funds are coming from a Title II federal funding grant that’s set to expire on Sept. 30. The grant amendment for Gallup training was presented to and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
$73,068 for year one of a contract with the Fairfax County Government to update and maintain the Copy Center’s production printers that service the school district. This contract operates on a per-page model and is expected to save the school district a substantial amount of money over the five-year term of the contract.
