PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. โ€“ June 26, 2019 โ€“ The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners announces county offices will be closed Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. In addition:

  • County senior centers will be closed July 4 and 5. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered. However, participants will be provided shelf-stable meals in advance.
  • County public transportation will not operate July 4 or 5. Normal operating hours resume Saturday, July 6.
  • Calvert Library locations will be closed July 4. Online services and electronic checkouts are available.
  • Northeast Community Center will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3 and remain closed on July 4 and 5. North Beach Recreation Center will be closed all day July 3, 4 and 5. Mt. Hope, Southern and Harriet E. Brown community centers will be closed July 4 and 5.
  • All recreation parks including Dunkirk, Hallowing Point and Cove Point parks will be open normal hours.
  • The Appeal Landfill and county convenience centers will be closed July 4 and 5. The Appeal Landfill and convenience centers will reopen with normal hours on Saturday, July 6.
  • The Solomons Visitor Information Center will be closed on July 4. Normal operating hours resume Friday, July 5.
  • Chesapeake Hills Golf Course will be open with regular hours July 4 and 5.
  • The Calvert Marine Museum will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 4 and 5. The museum store will also be open from 10:15 a.m.-4:45 p.m.
  • The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter and Animal Control Division will be closed July 4 and 5. The shelter reopens with normal operating hours Saturday, July 6.
  • Flag Ponds Nature Park and Kings Landing Park Swamp will be open with normal park hours July 4 and 5. Battle Creek Cypress Swamp Nature Center will be closed July 4 and 5.
  • Breezy Point Beach & Campground will be open normal hours on July 4 and 5.
  • The Water & Sewerage billing and customer service office will be closed July 4 and 5. The Solomons Septage Receiving Facility will be closed. On-call crews will be available for water and sewer service emergencies only at 410-535-3491.
  • Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center, Kings Landing and Cove Point Park pools will close at 5 p.m. July 4. Normal operating hours resume Friday, July 5.
