At approximately 6:20 p.m. yesterday, January 16,near Chesapeake Beach Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputy Corporal Thomas Phelps was struck by a vehicle. Phelps also happens to be the Calvert County FOP Lodge President.
According to Sheriff Mike Evans, Phelps was directing traffic from a previous accident, (check this story), when the driver of an unidentified vehicle, who was not paying attention slammed into him.
Evans told The Bay Net, Phelps was not seriously injured and should make a full recovery. The Calvert County Sheriff’s department will be making an official statement later today. The Bay Net will bring you further details as they are released.
