Greenbelt, Maryland โ ย Aย 55-year-old Lusby man who posed as a boy to trick underage girls into sending him naked photos will spend the next 17 years in federal prison.ย
Jose Antonio Jaramillo was convicted on production of child pornography in a Greenbelt federal court after receiving explicit photos and videos of at least seven girls ranging in ages 13 to 16.
Jaramillo admitted to posing as a teenager named “Tommy James”, between December 2014 and July 2015,ย to gather explicit online photos from girls ranging from ages 13 to 16, federal prosecutors said.
During that time, Jaramillo convinced the victims to shoot explicit photos and videos of themselves, and to send those images to Jaramillo via email, cell phone app, and social media. Jamamillo also admitted to engaging in or attempting to engage in sexually explicit conversations with at least 14 sexually explicit conversations with underage girls.
As part of a plea deal, Jaramillo will also receive 15 years parole and must register as a sex offender after his sentence.
The case was initiated as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation nationwide.
