PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Three deputies have joined the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. The deputies were welcomed by the Board of County Commissioners at the July 22 meeting.

Sheriff Ricky Cox introduced Logan Armburster, Connor Currie and John McIntosh to the commissioners and highlighted their skill sets and achievements. Armburster and Currie were sworn in on July 11, and McIntosh was sworn in on July 14.

The new deputies are filling vacancies left in the department by retirements or individuals leaving for other roles.

Deputies Currie and Armburster successfully completed a demanding 32-week entry-level training program that “tested them physically, mentally and academically.” Deputy McIntosh brings nine years of experience from the Prince George’s County Police Department.

All three new deputies have family ties to Calvert County — McIntosh and Currie grew up in the county. Armburster has in-laws who live locally and served in law enforcement for eight years in South Carolina. Currie is a Huntingtown High School graduate and a Division I swimmer who won the Physical Training Award at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy. Sheriff Cox joked that Currie would be “doing all the water rescues” as a deputy.

Cox also expressed his enthusiasm about having experienced officers join the sheriff’s office, saying that he appreciated their experience on the streets and hoped they would help younger deputies grow.

He then thanked the deputies for joining the office and for their work keeping the county safe.
