PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert’s Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) welcomed three recent graduates from the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy’s 31-week academy to their law enforcement roles at the March 17 meeting.
Sheriff Ricky Cox introduced the graduates to the board and encouraged the county commissioners to attend their graduation ceremony on March 27 at Calvert High School. The new deputies were sworn in at the meeting.
The graduates are:
Morgan Snyder, a Huntingtown High graduate, is also a graduate of Calvert County Public Schools’ criminal justice program. “It’s cool to see kids come up through that program and put on the uniform and serve our county,” Sheriff Cox said.
Destiny O’Donnell is a Patuxent High School graduate and Army reservist, and works as a volunteer EMS in Calvert County.
Trent Connolly is a Huntingtown High School graduate. He played football and lacrosse at Huntingtown and later at Wingate University before returning to join the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Cox wrote in a memo that the graduates “have successfully completed their entry-level training, demonstrating resilience through a program that was mentally, physically and academically demanding.”
