PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) is adding a student success tool to its software services and will spend $498,699.20 over three years on a Panorama student success program.
To align with The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, CCPS has an obligation to do “an effective job of progress monitoring,” according to Director of Instruction Scott McComb. He explained that the platform centralizes data on academics, attendance, behavior and social-emotional learning.
The purchase also includes training support. The contract officially starts July 1, but Panorama will conduct three 90-minute training sessions as early as April to bring leaders and future trainers up to speed. Teachers would also be able to train starting in August and on staff development days in September.
McComb also said they researched numerous platforms to find the best software solution, hence the higher cost.
CCPS uses other Panorama programs, but the student services platform will be new for the district. Its use of other programs allowed the district.
“Quite frankly, the other vendors were not able to offer what Panorama offers,” McComb said.
McComb said one of the uses is that they need to develop English language arts (ELA) plans for individual students. Panorama can help pull in student data and overall data to help determine intervention, and can be used by parents and instructors. It will also utilize AI to help instructors find solutions for students.
