PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’, presented a grant to CalvertHealth Medical Center on Dec. 10 for $13,400.

The grant will help provide new gaming carts to the hospital. These carts support patients by helping to provide them and their families with fun and entertainment during their time in the hospital, a vital support for kids that helps them feel like kids and gives families a sense of normalcy and bonding during challenging times.

Jeremy Bradford, president and CEO of CalvertHealth, shared in an email to The BayNet that the gaming carts will be used throughout the emergency department, inpatient medical areas and adolescent behavioral health program.

“A hospital visit can be stressful or overwhelming for a child, and having access to age-appropriate activities helps reduce anxiety, provide comfort and build trust. We are grateful to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation for helping us create a more supportive and healing environment for the youth in our community,” Bradford wrote.

Jamie Struwe, Dunkin’ senior field marketing manager, agreed, adding that the hospital’s pediatric patients often spend long stretches away from home, and these gaming carts bring comfort, distraction and happiness into an otherwise difficult experience.

“CalvertHealth’s vision for the gaming carts will deliver immediate, tangible joy to kids during their time at the hospital, making it an ideal fit for this year’s grant,” Struwe said in an emailed statement to The BayNet.

The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’, provides the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger or illness. The foundation partners with food banks, children’s hospitals and other nonprofit organizations to fund joyful environments and experiences for kids when they need it most. The grant is part of a nationwide “celebration of 2025 funding,” supporting the foundation’s mission to bring joy to kids battling hunger or illness. Across the country, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation is granting $6.5 million to mission-aligned nonprofit organizations. The foundation has awarded over $65 million in grants since 2006.

Dunkin’, founded in 1950, is the largest coffee and donuts brand in the United States, with more than 14,000 restaurants in nearly 40 global markets.

“The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation is dedicated to helping kids feel like kids, even on their toughest days, and that mission is at the heart of everything we do,” Struwe added.
