With the first winter snow storm behind us the St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office reports the following:
From Friday, Dec.18 starting at 8 p.m. through Sunday, Dec. 20, at 8 a.m. Sheriffโs Deputies responded to 158 calls for service, including:
Assist Motorist 55 calls for service
Property Damage Motor Vehicle Accidents 38 calls for service
Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accidents 4 calls for service
Sheriff Timothy Cameron would like to thank all law enforcement officers, emergency communication dispatchers, fire and rescue, as well as, other public safety emergency personnel who worked diligently throughout the dangerous storm to respond to service calls and assist the needs of St. Maryโs County citizens.
The St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office used five Sheriffโs Office four-wheel drive patrol vehicles, which operated 24 hours a day throughout the storm. Without the four-wheel-drive patrol vehicles, responding to calls for service would have been much more difficult and extremely dangerous.
Sheriff Cameron commends St. Maryโs County Facilities and the State Highway Administration for their rapid response in clearing the roadways.
โI would also like to thank the citizens for their assistance during the storm. With Christmas approaching and the final holiday shopping weekend at hand, many quelled the urge to travel the roadways during the storm, erred on the side of caution, and stayed home with their family and friends to enjoy the snow. It was the combination of hard work and cooperation which allowed us to move safely and efficiently through this winter storm,” said Sheriff Timothy K. Cameron.
