Camp D.A.R.E. 2026 Registration Now Open In St. Mary’s County

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Registration is now open for Camp D.A.R.E. 2026, a free summer program for students in St. Mary’s County, officials announced.

The five-day camp will take place July 27 through July 31 at Leonardtown Middle School and is open to students entering fifth and sixth grade for the 2026–2027 school year.

Organized by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Camp D.A.R.E. is designed to provide a mix of education and hands-on activities aimed at helping students build confidence and make positive life choices.

Throughout the week, participants will take part in team-building exercises, safety demonstrations, and activities focused on real-world decision-making. The program also emphasizes communication skills and encourages positive interactions between students and law enforcement.

The camp is led by certified deputies, offering students an opportunity to engage with law enforcement in a structured and supportive environment.

Registration is open through June 12. More information and registration details are available online at www.firstsheriff.com/community/dare.

  1. DARE has been proven not to work… Well, it was originally made as a way to get kids to snitch on their parents, which was somewhat effective. But it doesn’t actually keep kids from doing drugs. Lmao.
