WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf restaurant disturbance in December led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man who authorities say assaulted two employees, damaged property, and refused to leave the business after being told to do so.

According to court documents, Jason Darren Hagens, 40, of Waldorf, was arrested following an investigation by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office into an incident that occurred on December 16, 2025, at Fiesta Cancun Bar & Grill on Crain Highway in Waldorf.

Deputies responded to the restaurant around 6:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, officers observed that the business’s neon sign had been ripped from the wall, causing damage to both the sign and the interior wall of the building.

Investigators learned that the disturbance began earlier that evening when Hagens entered the restaurant wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white sneakers, and carrying a black backpack. Authorities say he began yelling at employees, creating a disturbance inside the business, and then entered a kitchen area restricted to staff members.

Restaurant employees attempted to escort Hagens from the property, but officials say he refused to leave and continued arguing with staff for approximately 30 minutes. As employees attempted to remove him from the building, investigators say Hagens pushed two workers and spit in their faces before ripping the neon restaurant sign from the wall.

The damaged sign and wall caused approximately $500 in property damage, according to investigators. Hagens then fled the restaurant on foot.

Surveillance video from the business was reviewed by deputies and matched witness accounts of the incident. Investigators later identified the suspect as Hagens after comparing the footage to law enforcement and motor vehicle records.

Authorities say Hagens remained on the property after being notified he was not permitted to remain at the business.

Hagens was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, trespassing on private property, malicious destruction of property under $1,000, and disorderly conduct.

He was arrested on a warrant served March 6, 2026, and is currently being held without bond following a bail review hearing held the same day in Charles County District Court.

A trial scheduling hearing is set for April 21, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
