This Sunday, June 5th, will be the 29th annual, worldwide National Cancer Survivor’s Day. It is also referred to as a “Celebration of Life” because this is an event to celebrate for the people who have beaten cancer, inspire people who have recently been diagnosed, gather support for their families and create more awareness within the community.

Most of us have immediate family or friends or may know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately many people are living longer and winning their fight thanks to breakthroughs in treatment and early detection.
When we hear the word cancer we think the worse and it causes a lot of physical, emotional and psychological stress on everyone. If you are not in a support group already, use this celebration as a springboard to talk to others and gain hope and confidence.

Foundation 4 Heroes has been invited to two of these wonderful events this year. F4Heroes is the nonprofit organization that inspires children in schools and hospitals, and also visits and thanks Wounded Warriors, and their families, for their sacrifice and service to our country.

The first team of superheroes will be headed to downtown Leonardtown, Maryland for a 1pm start at Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital’s celebration on their front lawn. There is always a chance it will be sunny so come out and stop by to see Captain America, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Snow White and others.

Our organization lost a 16 year-old volunteer, Alexx Herndon, last year, and currently has another volunteer kicking colon cancers’ tail right now. Please stop by and see Tim and Jennifer Wolfrum and wish Jenn well as she continues her fight. They are a wonderful couple, newly married, bringing their 5 children together for a happy home. She needs our support.

The second F4Heroes’ superhero team that is heading north includes; Thor, Captain America Minion, Spiderman, Wolverine, Hawkeye, and more. They head up to Bethesda for a 12pm start and then venture through the halls of the Walter Reed National Military Hospital to visit with the people inside.

As usual we will be bringing superhero capes and masks to give to the children who need this inspiration and encouragement most; but will also visit with older patients, doctors and staff as well. It is an amazing feeling to be able to make a difference.

This is how your donations are used to benefit the public. It helps bring the team to where they are needed and then allows them to be able to give the children something fun to have forever. Thank you everyone for your continued support and Foundation 4 Heroes will continue doing what we can for the real heroes out there.
Foundation 4 Heroes hopes to see you this Sunday for National Cancer Survivor’s Day.
