LEONARDTOWN, Md. — On April 15, Maryland State Police responded to a residence in Leonardtown following reports of a disturbance involving a protective order violation.
At approximately 5:13 p.m., Trooper Phelps arrived at the home on Archer Street after receiving a complaint from a woman who reported her adult son was at the residence in violation of an active protective order. The complainant explained that her daughter was protected by the order, which explicitly prohibited the son from contacting her or entering the premises where she resides.
Upon entering the home, Trooper Phelps found Thomas Roy King, 33, of Leonardtown, standing in the kitchen eating a bowl of cereal. A verification check with Leonardtown Emergency Dispatch confirmed an active protective order against King, first issued on June 17, 2024, and valid through June 11, 2025. The order prohibited any contact with the protected party and barred King from entering her residence, including the grounds and surrounding areas.
Trooper Phelps was informed that prior to the officer’s arrival, King had opened the door to a bedroom occupied by the protected party, constituting a direct violation of the order.
King was arrested without incident and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where he was held without bond pending judicial review. He now faces two misdemeanor charges for violation of a protective order, each carrying a potential penalty of up to 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
A bond hearing was held on April 17, during which King was ordered to remain held without bond. His trial is scheduled for May 19 at St. Mary’s District Court. The case is being prosecuted by the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.

I think you meant Serial Killer and not Cereal Killer.
It’s a play on words, since he was eating cereal when arrested
