LA PLATA, Md. — As the Charles County Fair readies to open its gates Sept. 11-14, 2025, organizers have announced a new chaperone policy and a zero-tolerance code of conduct in effect for this year’s event.

The fair’s updated chaperone rule requires guests aged 17 and under to be accompanied by an adult 21 or older after 5 p.m. during the fair. Each chaperone may supervise up to five minors, must remain on the grounds, be reachable by phone, and present a valid photo ID. Guests 17 or older are also required to provide proof of age upon entry.

The new code of conduct bans weapons, fireworks, vaping, disruptive attire or behavior, line-cutting, unauthorized solicitation, restricted-area entry, and filming on rides. Re-entry is prohibited after 6 p.m., and violations may result in removal without refund.

Fair officials say these updates reflect a renewed commitment to providing a safe, family-friendly environment. “Protecting the fun” remains their central mission, they emphasized, urging patrons to review the policies before attending.

Visitors planning to experience this year’s fair should expect enforced safety measures designed to ensure the event remains both enjoyable and secure.

  1. Councilman Coates isn’t going to like hearing about this. This will only attract those people she dislikes.

  2. Just dropped my plans for that venue. Obviously there’s an ongoing problem ^ i have no intention to be subjected to it.

  3. “What is: “disruptive attire”? And no “filming on rides”? It’s a county fair! Lighten up!
