On Tuesday, July 24, the Charles County Department of Social Services (DSS) was honored with a $1,500 donation from Reaching Out Now, Inc., in recognition of the agency’s continued efforts to address the needs of vulnerable Charles County residents.
DSS is committed to enhancing the lives of community residents. This spring, they helped low income food stamp recipients to purchase fresh vegetables and fruit from the local farmers’ market.ย In March 2012, DSS came to the aid of the community by launching an office-wide food drive to benefit the Southern Maryland Food Bank.ย ย
“It’s exciting to see an organization in Charles County get recognized for their hard work, especially when they are helping so many people in need,” said Commissioner Debra M. Davis, Esq. (District 2).ย I want to thank Samantha Walker especially, president and founder of the Reaching Out Now, Inc. for recognizing the Department of Social Services’ efforts.”
