LA PLATA, Md. — The Charles County Teen Court program is launching its second annual hygiene drive, aiming to collect essential personal care items for local schools to distribute to students and families in need.
The drive will run from Monday, Sept. 22, through Friday, Oct. 3, with donations accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment, at the Charles County Sheriff’s Office District 1 Station at 6855 Crain Highway in La Plata.
Organizers said the most needed items this year are body wash, deodorant, feminine products and laundry detergent. Other requested supplies include shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, toothpaste and toothbrushes. The collected items will go directly to the 14 designated community schools in Charles County, where community school coordinators help distribute them through on-site school pantries to support students and families.
The initiative is coordinated by Sarah Vaughan, Teen Court coordinator, who can be reached at 301-609-3916 or vaughans@ccso.us
