
LA PLATA, Md. — Charles County Recreation, Parks, and Tourism has released its Fall 2025 Guide showcasing dozens of events, classes, and activities designed to keep residents active and engaged from September through December.
The season kicks off with the Fall Open House on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., where families can explore recreation centers, pools, parks, and historic sites across the county. Visitors can also catch the Rec Xpress Mobile Unit at various locations throughout the fall.
The Fall Craft Fair will be held Sept. 20 at Billingsley Community Center, featuring unique handcrafted goods and seasonal shopping. Admission is free for shoppers.
Anglers can cast their lines during the Fishin’ Buddies Derby on Oct. 11 at Gilbert Run Park, with teams competing for the biggest catches in multiple categories.
The Rec Xpress Fall Festival takes over Bensville Park on Oct. 26, offering free games, music, vendors, face painting, trick-or-treating, and a costume contest.
Halloween enthusiasts can join the Elite Spooktacular on Oct. 25 at Elite Gymnastics for haunted house fun, games, crafts, and pizza in a family-friendly setting.
History buffs can explore local legends through haunted history tours at sites like the Dr. Samuel A. Mudd House Museum, Historic Port Tobacco Village, and the Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay.
Youth athletes can sign up for basketball, soccer, and volleyball leagues, with registration closing Oct. 15. Pee Wee programs are also available for younger players.
Creative workshops this fall include cupcake decorating, soap making, and DIY holiday crafts, offering hands-on fun for all ages.
For younger children, themed activities like the Little Pumpkin Party, Move and Groove music sessions, and Art Adventure provide seasonal play and learning opportunities.
Adults can take part in fitness classes such as Zumba, Strong Nation, Power Yoga, and Aqua Circuit, or enjoy leisure offerings like salsa dancing, mystery dinner theater, and guided kayak tours of the Mallows Bay Ghost Fleet.
This fall also marks the return of Friday Teen Hangouts, Beyond the Bell afterschool programs, and inclusive recreation activities like adaptive swim lessons and sensory-friendly programs.
