
WALDORF, Md. — Fire crews responded late Monday night to a structure fire involving a chicken coop that briefly extended to a nearby shed on Forest Drive in Waldorf.
The fire was reported at approximately 10:47 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2026, in the 3400 block of Forest Drive. Initial dispatch information indicated a detached shed or garage fire to the rear of the property.
Callers advised that a chicken coop was on fire and that family members were attempting to move pigs away from the flames. Dispatchers also reported that efforts were underway to evacuate occupants from the area.
Upon arrival, crews confirmed a working fire involving the chicken coop, with extension to a second shed. Firefighters deployed hose lines and worked quickly to contain the blaze before it could spread further.
Command reported the fire was contained shortly after 11 p.m. Additional units initially dispatched were later canceled as crews gained control of the scene. By approximately 11:24 p.m., the fire was declared out and units began packing up equipment. The incident was marked under control and command was terminated shortly thereafter.
No injuries were reported. There was no immediate word on the number of animals affected or the extent of property damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
