NEWBURG, Md. — Shined-up fenders, roaring engines and homemade sweets will take center stage this Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Christopher J. Wright Memorial Car Show benefiting the Newburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department, 12245 Rock Point Road.

Registration is open from 9 a.m. to noon, with trophies presented at 2 p.m. Awards include Best in Show, EMS Chief’s Choice, Fire Chief’s Choice, NVRSFD President’s Award, Kids’ Choice, Top 50 entries, Top 3 motorcycles and several specialty categories. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 vehicles that roll in.

The fundraiser isn’t just about polished chrome. A community bake sale will tempt visitors with homemade cakes, cookies and pies, all donated to support the department. Bakers are asked to drop off contributions by 8:30 a.m. the day of the show.

Admission is free for spectators, who can also enjoy music from a DJ, food vendors, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Vehicle entry is $25, and no pre-registration is required. Vendors are welcome to take part.

All proceeds will support the Newburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department. In case of rain, the show will move to Saturday, Sept. 27. For details, call Cheryl Goldsmith at 301-653-3646.
