Fire Marshal Rules Clements Fire Accidental, Causes $100K in Damages

CLEMENTS, Md. – The Maryland State Fire Marshal has determined that the house fire that occurred Monday evening in Clements was accidental. The homeowner discovered the fire in an upstairs bedroom.

On September 2, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., fire and rescue personnel responded to a structure fire in the 24000 block of Long Road. The blaze was under control within 15 minutes, although extensive cleanup was required. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The primary responding fire department was the Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department, with a total of 48 firefighters, including those from surrounding departments, assisting in the operation.

The smoke alarm was active at the time of the fire. The estimated loss due to the fire is around $100,000.00.
