WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man has been charged with theft and illegally providing tobacco-related products to a minor following an incident at a vape shop in Charles County, according to court records.
Police identified the suspect as Deonta Dominick Greer, 19, of Waldorf. Charging documents state the incident occurred on Jan. 18, 2026, at a tobacco retailer along Crain Highway.
According to a statement of probable cause, officers were dispatched to the store after employees reported multiple individuals had fled on foot following the theft of several disposable vape devices. Surveillance footage reviewed by police showed the suspects taking the items before leaving the business without paying.
Investigators later located three individuals matching the provided descriptions in the area. Greer was identified through law enforcement databases and detained. A search reportedly recovered a black smartphone, cash, a circular magnet, and vape devices, including items believed to have been newly packaged.
Police determined the total value of the stolen merchandise, including applicable taxes, was between $100 and $1,500. Court records further allege that Greer delivered tobacco paraphernalia to a 16-year-old male, resulting in an additional misdemeanor charge.
Greer was charged with one count of theft between $100 and under $1,500 and one count of delivering or selling tobacco paraphernalia to a person under the age of 21. Both charges are misdemeanors under Maryland law.
Court documents show Greer was released on his own recognizance following his arrest. A trial scheduling hearing related to officer availability is set for March 4 in Charles County District Court
