Waldorf, MD ย – Despite a gloomy forecast earlier in the day, Saturday evening, July 18 proved to be an ideal time for night baseball. A sizeable crowd came out to Regency Stadium in Waldorf to watch the hometown Southern Maryland Blue Crabs face the Camden Riversharks.
Prior to the game, one of the most anticipated of the local ballparkโs many events was celebrated. The Paint the Park Pink event was marked as several local breast cancer survivors paraded onto the field. The survivors then released 75 pink balloons into the air. One of the cancer survivors sang The Star Spangled Banner prior to the first pitch.

The Blue Crabs players wore special jerseys, which were subsequently auctioned off, with the proceeds benefitting the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.

Also part of the pre-game ceremonies were participants in Southern Maryland Regional Library Associationโs summer reading program, who paraded around the bases.
At the conclusion of the seventh inning, fans enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show.
