
CALIFORNIA, Md. – Parts of our area are experiencing tidal flooding, especially in our Twin Beaches. Use Caution on area roadways. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
IMPACTS…At 3.0 feet, water is expected to reach backyards near 9th Street in North Beach, and could approach 9th Street. At 3.5 feet, yards are flooded near Charles Street and Williams Street in Solomons. Nearby parking lots and the streets themselves are covered by more than a half foot of water. At 3.5 feet, water reaches yards near Cobb Island and docks near Dahlgren. At 3.5 feet, water covers roads on Saint George Island, is in yards, and is approaching structures. To the east, inundation is occurring at multiple marinas off St. Mary`s River, Smith Creek, and Jutland Creek.
WHAT…Up to two and a half feet of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas due to tidal flooding.
WHERE…Shoreline in Charles, St. Mary’s and Calvert Counties.
WHEN…Until 10 AM EDT this morning, especially around the time of high tide.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Tides two to two and a half feet above normal. The next high tide at Chesapeake Beach is at 7:30 AM and 7:46 PM. The next high tide at Solomons Island is at 5:39 AM and 5:55 PM. The next high tide at Indian Head is at 11:16 AM and 12:02 AM. The next high tide at Goose Bay is at 7:22 AM and 8:08 PM. Tides two to two and a half feet above normal. The next high tide at Piney Point is at 5:36 AM and 6:22 PM. The next high tide at Point Lookout is at 4:49 AM and 5:05 PM. The next high tide at Coltons Point is at 6:12 AM and 6:58 PM.
