Comedian Ronnie Corbett has died, aged 85.
The Scottish comedy legend’s publicist confirmed that he passed away on Thursday surrounded by his “loving family.”
He is best known in the U.K. for his sketch show “The Two Ronnies” with Ronnie Barker, which ran in the 1970s and 1980s. Barker died in 2005.
Born Ronald Balfour Corbett in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1930, Corbett rose to fame with Barker on 1960s satirical program “The Frost Report.” He also appeared in the sitcoms “Sorry!, No – That’s Me Over Here!,” game show “Small Talk” and voiced the character Po in children’s TV show “Teletubbies.”
He had suffered a string of health problems in recent years. He collapsed at a dinner to celebrate him being made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2012, and was taken to hospital again in 2014 with gall bladder problems.
The 5-foot comedian is survived by his wife Anne Hart, whom he married in 1965. The couple had three children, but their first child , son Andrew, died at six weeks due to a heart defect. His two daughters Emma and Sophie Corbett are actresses.
