PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – Today, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) recognized the dedication of the men and women who serve the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office who courageously wear the uniform, selflessly risking their lives in their performance of their duties, serving their community, knowing the dangers and challenges that encompass their day, as they protect and serve the public with pride and dignity.

The Commissioners proclaimed Calvert County join our nation in recognizing May 11, 2021 as ‘Peace Officers’ Memorial Day’ in honor of the officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. Board members asked for a moment of silence to remember and pay solemn tribute to those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. It was further proclaimed that Tuesday, May 11, 2021 be recognized as ‘Law Enforcement Memorial and Appreciation Day’. A day for citizens to observe with appropriate ceremony and display respect, which these officers have so nobly earned and deserve.

On hand to graciously accept the proclamation was Sheriff Mike Evans, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year DFC K. Parks, Detention Center Correctional Deputy of the Year SCD R. Scott, Correctional Deputy Rookie of the Year CD A. Hart, Sheriff’s Office Rookie of the Year Deputy H. Wilder, Detention Center Cpt. K. Cross and Lt. Col. Dave McDowell.
