On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Charles County Commissioners proclaimed the month of September 2015 as Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma Awareness Month. Blood cancers afflict more than one million people in the U.S. every year. Ongoing research has provided increased treatment options for blood cancer patients, while reducing the likelihood of complications.

The Commissioners honor Governor Larry Hogan, as well as all leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma patients and their families.ย  Residents are encouraged to become knowledgeable about blood cancers and ways to support education and funding for research. For additional information about blood cancer awareness, visit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society website at www.lls.org.
