ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Work on the eastbound Bay Bridge is underway. Crews are replacing the deck this month. The $140 million project was approved in October 2022 and is just one of a decades-long plan to upgrade the more than 70-year-old eastbound span of the bridge.
Workers are preparing the work areas during off-peak daytime hours, for the work that will primarily be happening at night.
The westbound lane will remain open for two-way traffic; one lane going in each direction. One section of the deck will be removed each night and will be replaced by a new section that has already been built off-site.
The Maryland Transportation Authority says the work is significant but there will be limited traffic impacts due to the work being done at night.
The work is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025.

It’s been along wait but finally getting done. This will help with backups during holiday season. Glad to see it getting started.
It needs to be torn down and left down, this is a waste of taxpayer dollars
You live in a fantasy land if you think theyโd tear it down and leave it that way.
No I just tell it like it is, this project is a waste of money
