HUNTINGTON, Md. — COSMIC Symphony’s upcoming concert, “Song & Dance,” promises a vibrant celebration of classical music, showcasing the vocal talent of 17-year-old Ellyanna Tyson, the winner of their 2024 Young Artist Competition. The program will include Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo & Juliet” overture and selections from Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances.” The concert will be held at two venues and is free of charge to the public.

The first performance is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Chesapeake Church in Huntingtown. The second will take place on Feb. 23, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the Nancy R. and Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center at St. Mary’s College of Maryland in St. Mary’s City. No tickets are required for either event.

Ellyanna Tyson, a high school senior born and raised in Southern Maryland, began her musical journey with the Southern Maryland Youth Orchestra and Choir. Tyson currently studies voice with Wendy Podsednik and piano with Chiara Selby. Her extensive experience includes choral, duet, and solo performances throughout the region, with notable appearances at Carnegie Hall and the French Embassy.

In addition to her performances, Tyson has participated in the Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard program and has performed with groups such as Newtowne Players, Port Tobacco Players, Children’s Theatre of Southern Maryland, and L’Opera Comique de Washington.

The “Song & Dance” concert is sponsored in part by the Maryland State Arts Council, St. Mary’s County Arts Council, Arts Council of Calvert County, and St. Mary’s County Government.
