Forestville, MD – On Thursday, Chief Stawinski provided an update in the investigation into an incident that resulted in the wounding of two Prince George’s County Police officers.
On Wednesday night, police were executing a drug search warrant at an apartment in Forestville when the resident shot and injured two officers upon entry.ย
It was determined after the incident that police had raided the wrong address.ย

As Chief Stawinski explained during the update, upon conferring with the Stateโs Attorney, no charges will be filed against the resident in this case.
One of the two wounded PGPD officers was treated and released from the hospital. The second officer remains hospitalized and is undergoing treatment for an injury to the arm and face. Both of the officers are assigned to the Special Operations Division.
In a separate update, the Internal Affairs Divisionโs Special Investigation Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the discharge of one officerโs weapon during the execution of the search warrant, as discussed by the Chief.ย The officer, Corporal Daniel Siculietano, fired one time after the resident shot and wounded the two officers as the team of officers was making entry into the home.ย No one was hit by the shot fired from Siculietanoโs weapon.ย He is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation which is standard procedure.ย He has been with the department for seven years and is currently assigned to our Special Operations Division.ย All cases involving officers discharging their weapons are reviewed by the Prince Georgeโs County Stateโs Attorneyโs Office.ย
The entire incident remains under investigation.
FORESTVILLE, MD – Two police officers are reported to be in stable condition after being shot last night in Forestville and flown to a trauma center, says officials.
On Sept. 19, approximately 10:30 p.m. a team nine officers from the PG County special operations division were serving a narcotics search warrant 2700 Lorring Drive. According to a representative, the team arrived outside the door to an apartment, announced their presence and demanded the door be opened.
After several ignored requests, officers deployed a device to open the door. As the door was opening, an occupant shot at the team with a shotgun, injuring two officers. One officer was injured in the hand area and the other, the shoulder. A third officer returned fire at the suspect but missed. The suspect proceeded to surrender and was apprehended along with a second occupant who is not currently being considered a suspect.
A tactical medic who was also on the team applied life-saving treatment to the wounded until members of PG County Fire Department arrived and transported them to a nearby school where they were flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma.
One officer was originally transported in serious condition but is now in stable condition.
