WALDORF, Md. — A 36-year-old Waldorf woman is facing serious charges in a Waldorf assault arrest after authorities say she struck a man with an aluminum bat and later threatened him with a gun.
Charnise Nicole Tate of Waldorf is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault in connection with the May 3, 2026, incident, according to court records.
According to charging documents, officers responded around 12:17 p.m. to the 2000 block of Alderman’s Place for a reported assault with a weapon.
Police said the victim was found with significant injuries, including a missing front tooth, a broken front tooth, a swollen lip, bleeding, and a red mark on his shoulder.
Investigators say the injuries were consistent with the victim’s statement that Tate struck him multiple times with an aluminum bat, including blows to the mouth and shoulder.
Authorities said Tate later admitted to hitting the victim with the bat after being advised of her rights.
Officers recovered an aluminum bat from inside the residence that Tate identified as the one used during the incident.
Police said the victim also reported that Tate pointed a black handgun at him during the altercation and threatened to shoot him. Investigators later located a black BB pistol inside the home.
Court records indicate the two individuals had known each other for approximately 10 years.
Tate was arrested May 3, 2026, and initially held without bond. A bail review hearing was held May 4, 2026, before Judge Patrick J. Devine in Charles County District Court, where she was again ordered held without bond.
A hearing is set for May 27, 2026, in Charles District Court.
Under Maryland law, first-degree assault is a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison, while second-degree assault carries up to 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine if convicted.
