Dominion Energy will perform maintenance activities this week on the natural gas pipeline leading to the Dominion Energy Cove Point LNG terminal. Dominion Energy uses highly specialized equipment to inspect the interior and exterior of the pipeline to ensure continued safe operation.
As part of the process, a small amount of natural gas will be vented to the atmosphere at Cove Point during maintenance activities tentatively scheduled for late Wednesday, Sept. 20, subject to weather conditions and other factors. The venting should take about 10 minutes to complete. Natural gas is lighter than air, so it disperses quickly when introduced into the atmosphere.
