MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – A crash into a pole Thursday evening seriously injured one person and closed a road in Mechanicsville.
Scanner activity reports that around 7:00 p.m., a vehicle overturned and crashed into a telephone pole setting it on fire on Chaptico Road near Baptist Church Road.
The driver who sustained severe injuries, reportedly exited the vehicle and began running from the scene. The motorist was apprehended by authorities soon after and was flown to a trauma center.
Chaptico Road is closed between Doctor Johnson Road and Dallas Drive. SMECO is en route to the scene. Motorists should expect delays in the area.
