INDIAN HEAD, Md. — Firefighters from several stations responded to a house fire on April 3, 2025, on Birch Bark Court near Woodland Drive in Indian Head, where smoke was reported coming from the rear of the home around 6:58 a.m.

Units arrived to find smoke showing from a one-story, single-family home. Battalion Chief 20 assumed command and reported a working fire in the attic above the dining room.

Crews began pulling ceiling panels to reach the fire, laying out hoses from nearby streets. All additional units were staged nearby on Woodland Drive.

SMECO was requested to assist at the scene, and investigators believe the fire may have been electrical in nature. Crews remained on scene through the cleanup. No injuries have been reported.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal continues to investigate.
