fire in maryland

HOLLYWOOD, Md. — Firefighters quickly contained a structure fire Thursday morning at a commercial auto body business in St. Mary’s County, preventing significant damage and ensuring the safety of all occupants.

Crews were dispatched around 8:15 a.m. Jan. 8 to the block of 43900 Commerce Ave., where smoke was reported coming from the paint area of a single-story commercial building. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke showing and immediately began suppression efforts.

The fire was brought under control within minutes. Responding units also secured electrical service to the building by shutting off power at the breaker box as a precaution.

No injuries were reported, and all employees were safely accounted for at the scene. Authorities said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the incident remains under investigation.
