LA PLATA, Md. — Students at the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) now have a guaranteed pathway to continue their studies at Towson University (TU) under a new General Admissions and Reverse Transfer Agreement signed Monday, Sept. 29, 2025.

The pact, signed by CSM President Yolanda Wilson, Ed.D., and TU President Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph.D., creates a streamlined process for CSM graduates to transfer to TU with guaranteed admission upon completion of an associate degree. TU will accept up to 64 credits earned at CSM.

“This partnership with Towson University ensures opportunities for our students to seamlessly transfer to a nationally recognized, public university to complete their undergraduate degrees,” Wilson said. “This is yet another pathway for our graduates to continue the outstanding education they have found at CSM.”

The agreement also features a reverse transfer option, allowing students who transfer to TU before finishing an associate degree to apply TU credits toward completing the CSM credential. Wilson called the reverse transfer provision “a win-win” for students, enabling them to earn a “stackable credential” on their way to a bachelor’s degree.

Ginsberg said the collaboration aims to keep students from losing “time, credits, and money” during the transfer process. “Towson University is proud to further enhance our partnership with the College of Southern Maryland to provide seamless access to TU, among the most respected and top-ranked public universities in our state,” he said.

TU enrolls more than a quarter of Maryland’s community college transfer students each year and is recognized nationally for student success and inclusive excellence.
