DUNKIRK, Md. — A Prince Frederick man is facing multiple misdemeanor drug charges following a welfare check in Dunkirk late last month.
Corey Carnell Thomas, 45, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2025, after deputies with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:22 a.m. to a welfare check involving a Ford Flex stopped outside a CVS pharmacy in the 10095 block of Southern Maryland Boulevard. The vehicle was occupied by two people, including a female driver whom deputies suspected may have been impaired.
During the encounter, Thomas was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. According to charging documents, deputies observed Thomas attempting to kick away broken glass later identified as drug paraphernalia. A search of the vehicle uncovered multiple items of suspected drug paraphernalia and a clear plastic tube containing white residue believed to be cocaine.
Thomas was taken into custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis. After he was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, authorities reported locating additional marijuana on him during a search, resulting in a third charge of possession of a controlled dangerous substance while confined or detained.
Court records show Thomas was initially held without bond following his arrest. At a bail review hearing on Jan. 2, 2026, a judge ordered his release on a $5,000 unsecured personal bond. A trial is scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
