Leonardtown, MD — A defense contractor has been honored for its support of the St. Maryโ€™s County Public Schools (SMCPS). The school board at its Oct. 28 meeting recognized Northrop Grumman for their continuing support.

This past summer the company donated $10,000 for the school systemโ€™s robotics program, including a start-up program in the elementary schools. This is just one of the many contributions over the years to the systems Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs.

At the meeting Northrop Grummanโ€™s local Corporate Lead Executive Scott Stewart presented the check to Superintendent Scott Smith. Stewart was introduced to the board by STEM Supervisor Jason Hayes.

In materials submitted for the presentation, the companyโ€™s efforts were recognized โ€œfor their willingness to provide the resources to make a significant difference in the lives of our students.โ€
