LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park man was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
On Feb. 7, 2025, at approximately 10:17 a.m., a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s deputy observed Kevin Maurice Walls, 62, riding in the front passenger seat of a Mercury Grand Marquis with Virginia registration near Pegg Road and Three Notch Road in Lexington Park. The deputy, who recognized Walls from prior police encounters, verified that Walls had an active warrant for his arrest and initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, officers took Walls into custody. While searching the vehicle, authorities discovered a glass smoking device with a burnt white residue suspected to be crack cocaine in the front passenger door compartment. A loose white rock-like substance, also believed to be crack cocaine, was found sitting directly beside the glass smoking device.
Walls was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Possession of a controlled dangerous substance carries a potential penalty of up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine, while possession of paraphernalia could result in an additional fine of up to $500.
Following his initial appearance in court, Walls was held without bond. However, during a bail review hearing on Feb. 10, 2025, Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser ordered his release on his own recognizance. His next scheduled court appearance is set for March 24, 2025, at St. Mary’s County District Court.

Great “Heads up” law enforcement SMCSO Deputies. I’m not sure that PR for someone with an active warrant and accused Drug violations again is good for the law-abiding citizens. Need to get tough on crime Judge. Seems like LEO’s and States Attorneys have got the message.
