The work to revise the Prince Frederick Town Center Master Plan is about to begin.ย Starting April 29, a five-part seminarโa prelude to a planned event known as a โcharretteโwill be held at Calvert Library in Prince Frederick.
According to Will Selman, a community designer with the Calvert County Department of Community Planning and Building, a charrette is a public design workshop that will be conducted by a hired consulting firm. ย The seminars begin Monday, April 29 at noon. Each presentation will be offered twice.

Out of 11 consultants submitting proposals, department staff recommended The Lawrence Group. Selman told the planning commission The Lawrence Group is โan architecture, land planning and real estate development consultancy specializing in charrette-based community planning and design.โ
Selman said the charrette is tentatively planned for the week of June 10. During the sessions โstakeholdersโ will be interviewed by consultants. The stakeholders include elected officials, planning commission members, county government staff, state agency representatives and local institutional leadership. The latter group includes members of the Calvert Board of Education, police, volunteer fire and rescue squad leaders and members of local boards.
All of the sessions are open to the public.
