ย Maryland State Fire Marshal’s are invesigating two residential shed fires that resulted in the death of a dog.

Over 25 firefighters from La Plata and Waldorf Volunteer Fire Departments responded to report of a blaze in the 10000 block of Penjack Place in Waldorf on Thursday, Feb. 17 around 3:40 a.m.

Crews arrived on the scene to discover two residential sheds ablaze.ย 

Investigation revealed the homeowner was alerted to the fire after his dogs began barking. Theย origin and cause investigation revealed the fire originated inside of the metal conex shed and spread to a nearbyย wooden storage shed. One dog perished in a nearby dog pin.

Damage to structures and contents is estimated to be $15,000.00 The investigation is continuing.
