BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Some dogs have a sixth sense about knowing when it’s time for a visit to the vet. Tensie Wenderoth’s dog, Rusty, is no exception.
“When I got out of the car I thought it was strange that he got out with me,” said Wenderoth. “He never does that.”
Rusty looked at his owner and then ran across the street.
“That’s the last time I saw him until Monday night,” said Wenderoth.
It had been three months of driving up and down Reisterstown Road and passing out fliers with no success.
“It was — in plain words — hell,” said Wenderoth.
Wenderoth was having dinner in her apartment Monday when someone knocked on the door. It was another resident who spotted Rusty outside the complex.
“When I saw him come in I thought, ‘That can’t be my dog — he was so skinny,'” said Wenderoth, who is still amazed, yet puzzled, that her four-legged friend found his way back home.
“There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t think about him or what he was doing,” said Wenderoth. “I just didn’t lose hope.”
Wenderoth plans on bringing Rusty to a vet to make sure nothing happened to him during what one person told her was a “three-month vacation.”
It’s understandable why Wenderoth isn’t in a rush to do that so soon after reuniting with the companion she thought was lost for good.
