WALDORF, Md. — Dollar Tree is opening a new store at The Shops at Waldorf Center, taking over the former Party City location in one of Waldorf’s busiest retail areas.
The new store will occupy 12,093 square feet, according to updated site plans, and will offer the brand’s usual lineup of household goods, cleaning supplies, snacks, seasonal items and school essentials. No official opening date has been released.
The space has remained vacant since Party City’s closure and was one of the larger storefronts available at the center. The closure followed a December 2024 announcement that Party City would shut down all of its stores nationwide after nearly 40 years in business. The company initially filed for bankruptcy in January 2023, emerged later that year, but filed again in December 2024, ultimately leading to the decision to close all remaining locations by early 2025.

Dollar Tree’s opening is one of several efforts to expand the shopping plaza. Sprouts Farmers Market, a national grocery chain specializing in natural and organic foods, is listed as “coming soon” on the center’s website. While no official opening date has been announced, social media comments suggest Sprouts is targeting an August 2025 opening. QDOBA Mexican Eats is also preparing to open, adding to the plaza’s growing list of dining options.
The Shops at Waldorf Center is located at 2952 Festival Way, Waldorf, MD 20601. For more information and store updates, visit theshopsatwaldorfcenter.com.
