DUNKIRK, Md. — If you have old hunting gear you or your kids have outgrown, Sunday, Dec. 14, is your opportunity to use those old items to support a good cause.
The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department is serving as a donation drop-off site for Huntin’ With Jacob, a nonprofit dedicated to helping kids and families experience the outdoors through hunting and conservation. Not only will you get to pass along your clothes, but you can share your own family’s traditions with more kids interested in the great outdoors.
You can drop off your items at the firehouse at 3170 W. Ward Rd., Dunkirk, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14. The event is also a swap, so if your kids are in need of upgrades that aren’t in the budget this season, it’s a great opportunity to make sure they can continue being outside and doing what they love.
Organizers say they’re looking for camo clothes in all sizes, waders, and adult-sized gear that could benefit an older child or a parent who is new to the outdoors and wants to build skills and create memories with their families.
Huntin’ With Jacob is a nonprofit dedicated to helping families who have endured hardships brought on by mental health struggles or other life-altering tragedies.
“We believe in the restorative power of nature and provide opportunities for families to reconnect, heal, and find peace through guided hunting and fishing experiences in the great outdoors,” the group says on its website.
Huntin’ With Jacob fosters a love for the outdoors and helps people in the community build better futures through scholarship programs and more.
