PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Dr. Brandon Temple will step down from his role as chairman and educator of the Calvert County Commission for Veterans and Military Families, as per his presentation to the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Dr. Temple has been working with the commission since its founding four years ago. With his retirement from the military approaching next year, he is stepping down from the commission as he plans a move to Missouri to be closer to family. Vice Chair Patricia “Pat” McCoy will serve as the acting chair until officer elections in November.
Board members and colleagues praised Dr. Temple’s work on the commission and within the county, highlighting his strategic leadership and dedication to the community.
“It’s rare that someone can come into the community and have such an immediate impact the way you did,” Commissioner Catherine Grasso said. “You will be missed. Thank you for all you’ve done.”
Commissioner Earl Hance thanked Dr. Temple for getting the commission off the ground and said he was confident the team would continue all the good work.
Director of Community Services Jennifer Moreland added that county officials had a vision for what the commission could be, and Dr. Temple “elevated it above that vision.” She added that he was able to move many of their objectives forward.
During his time as chair, Dr. Temple helped Calvert County earn a Purple Heart County designation and Purple Heart School designations for 10 schools, among many other initiatives.
