PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Dr. Lisa Yankanich was appointed the new Supervisor of Student Services for Calvert County Public Schools at the March 12 Board of Education (BOE) meeting last week.

According to Superintendent Marcus Newsome, Dr. Yankanich has worked in the school district since 2014. Yankanich served as a literacy coach in middle and high school and a district-level school improvement coach. Yankanich has led and supported key districtwide initiatives in multi-tiered systems of support, universal design for learning, and data-informed instructional practices.

She has also served as a research fellow for the University of Maryland’s Science Action Network, contributing to statewide research and collaboration centered on continuous improvement. She holds advanced certifications in administration and supervision and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Maryland.

“Her resume is several pages long and she has just an incredible background,” Newsome said.

Dr. Yankanich’s appointment was approved by BOE members in a 5-0 vote.

“I can’t imagine a better way to continue my tenure in Calvert County Public Schools in the service of students than in the Department of Student Services,” Dr. Yankanich said during her remarks.
