
INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A man in his 30s was airlifted to a Washington, D.C., trauma center Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, 2025, after his vehicle veered off Chicamuxen Road and struck a tree.
The crash was reported shortly after 10:15 a.m. near the intersection of Stump Neck Road. Callers told dispatchers the vehicle had left the roadway and come to rest about 20 feet into the woods. Witnesses found the driver unconscious but breathing outside the vehicle.
First responders described the man as unresponsive with possible arm fractures. Fire and rescue units established a landing zone at the community hall on Archer Avenue, where a U.S. Park Police Eagle 2 helicopter landed around 10:45 a.m.
The patient was stabilized with a backboard and cervical collar before being flown to MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s trauma unit.
Authorities have not released the man’s identity. Charles County sheriff’s deputies and volunteer fire companies assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
