Sunderland, MD – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 2 and Dalrymple Road in Sunderland Thursday, April 14 resulted in injuries to two motorists, police reported. The collision occurred around 3 p.m.
Captain Todd Ireland of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office told The BayNet that a motorist traveling southbound on Route 2 (Solomons Island Road) attempted to turn left onto Dalrymple Road, failing to yield to a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 2. The two vehicles collided.
Ireland said the female driver of the southbound vehicle was flown to a hospital in Baltimore. Since the motorist was pregnant, the fly-out was done as a precautionary measure. The driver of the northbound vehicle was transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital.
According to Ireland, charges against the driver of the southbound vehicle are pending.
