Henry Clagett Dent

Leonardtown, MD — The prescription drug distribution case against a former DC firefighter who lives in St. Maryโ€™s County has been reopened and is ongoing, according to the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office. Commander of the Vice/Narcotics Division Captain Daniel Alioto told the Bay Net that charges can be expected in the future against Henry Clagett Dent, 36, of Leonardtown.

Dent was arrested in June of this year as part of the large sheriffโ€™s office drug investigation called Operation Undivided Attention. Dent was indicted on June 2nd on two separate charges alleging prescription fraud and obtaining a fraudulent prescription with the intent to distribute. The incidents allegedly occurred in Charlotte Hall and Hollywood, according to the sheriffโ€™s department release at the time

The charges against Dent were dropped by the St. Maryโ€™s County Stateโ€™s Attorneyโ€™s Office on July 2nd. Fox 5 TV News in Washington is reporting that the charges were dropped based on some information provided by Dent, who is denying the charges. He reportedly claims he was prescribed oxycodone for injuries received while on the job.

But the Washington TV station is now reporting that seven current or former DC firefighters, including Dent, who was a lieutenant, are under investigation. In addition to Dent, one other firefighter has resigned and five others have been taken off the street pending the outcome of the investigation. The other firefighters were reportedly implicated through Dentโ€™s electronic records.

Fox 5 is reporting that in addition to the investigation by the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office, federal prosecutors and FBI investigators are involved in the case from the DC end of it.
