On Feb. 26, at 12:38 a.m., Michael Lee Shaffier, 30 of Leonardtown, was arrested by TFC J. A. Pilkerton for Resisting Arrest and DWI/DUI.
Shaffier was operating a white Ford Focus on south bound Point Lookout Road, in the area of Hermanville Road. TFC Pilkerton attempted to stop the vehicle for exceeding the posted speed limit. TFC Pilkerton pursued the vehicle on south bound Point Lookout Road. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Park Hall Post Office. Contact was made with Shaffier. While TFC Pilkerton was placing him under arrest for Fleeing and Eluding, Shaffier began to resist. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath.
Shaffier was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing of the DWI/DUI. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
