MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – At approximately 11:10 a.m. on August 18, 2023, emergency personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle accident involving an overturned tractor trailer on Budds Creek Road and Thompson Corner Road.

Upon arrival, crews discovered an overturned MBI truck off the roadway after colliding with another vehicle. The tractor trailer’s saddle fuel tanks were leaking. Hazmat was then reportedly called to the scene to assist with cleanup.

The Maryland Department of Environment was also dispatched to assist on the scene.

One of the operators was reportedly transported to Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital.

Budds Creek Road in the area of Thompson Corner will reportedly be closed for more than eight hours, so plan accordingly.

    1. No where in the article does it state speed was or possibly could be a factor.
Yours would be a knee jerk comment. This could have been a medical issue , a mechanical issue or even distracted driving…Please never sit on a jury , tell the judge you lack critical thinking skills .

      1. The statistics are stacked against you, not me, there is a serious accident on that road every single week, if you don’t like speed cameras then you’re part of the problem

      1. When you get your stats from out thy arz they are always covered in poopoo..
Cameras have been prove to decrease accidents,,,
And yet again refer back to my original post ,,,,re this accident a camera is not part of this equation …unless police provide more that it was caused by speed,,,

        1. Speed camera have been proven timeless times they reduce accidents, you people drive like absolute maniacs

That is a TAC truck hauling garbage from the landfills, do you not have any clue how many of those trucks have crashed on that road alone due to speeding and negligence? Have you forgotten the one that blew through the clements circle and plowed through a home completely destroying it and almost killing everyone? Google it before you attempt to make any rational response

        2. I agree with your first comment but not the second… They are a scam, just a cash grab for the State. They do not decrease accidents what so ever. Also, just because police say it’s speed doesn’t mean it was. Of course the driver will tell you they were going a bit too fast but they won’t tell you that they were on their phone. Most accidents are a form of distracted driving but will just get categorized to something else due to the driver not truly admitting what really caused them to wreck.

          1. Speed cameras are not a scam, do research on them and look at how much they reduce accidents when in use
If you disagree then you’re only a part of the problem

  1. Speed cameras are needed. Anyone that travels that road knows nobody pays attention to the speed limit. As far as the comment about a money maker, just waive the $$$ when a camera citation is issued. Just give the offender the points on their license. Let DMV & insurance slow them down.

  2. I live right off of Budds Creek and I knew it would just be a matter of time before one of those MBI trucks have an accident. Multiple MBI trucks take this route daily. They speed, run up behind you and tail gate you and drive reckless. I am surprised it took so long to happen.

  3. Speed cameras HAVE been proven to drastically decrease accidents, google it, the information is all available publicly and Maryland needs them installed everywhere
